Tanjung Sari is precious original. One of Bali's best kept
secrets, Tanjung Sari Hotel was opened in 1962 as four - bungalow
extension to his family by Indonesia Proprietor Wijo Wawo-Runtu.
Located in Sanur, Bali as the forerunner of boutique hotels
in South East Asia. The Hotel has 28 bungalows, evolved from
traditional Balinese architecture, constructions and techniques
and material.
Tandjung Sari is more than a hotel. It is gallery
of the fabled Balinese artistic genius, the product of a quarter-century
creative partnership with the same group of craftsmen, across
two generations. Priceless antiques, both Balinese and Dutch
colonial, are also exhibited throughout the property. Like
Bali itself, the hotel is an easy in beauty dedicated to the
gods. The management sees itself as the guardian and patron
of the highest possible traditional standards in the art.
The separate bungalows were built in native style and set
in opulent gardens. Among them were discreetly placed small
stone temples with the traditional pagoda shape and black
thatch roof, Statue of gods and goddess appeared in niches.
The room, with its split bamboo walls, mats, rafts, poles
tied together with bark fiber, gave off vibrations which I
can only describe as similar to those one fells in a forest,
as if natural materials never lost their power to conduct
life. It had the quality of refuge which so few hotel room
have...."
Every
bungalows is as individual and special as the guests themselves.
Each Balinese- style unit has its own private garden, some
the sensual freedom of an open-air shower. All provide top
quality modern conveniences from air-conditioning, king-and
queen-size beds, baths and bidets, to telephone with International
Direct Dialing facilities, refrigerators and hair driers.
Fine Indonesia cuisine and the sunny courtesy of Balinese
service at the hotel's beach side restaurant and bar round
off the experience. These includes a library
and a 50-foot lap pool.
